Vocaloid Blog

I chose to talk about Vocaloid since I like it and I'm very familiar with it.

Vocaloid is a singing voice synthesizer software. It was developed through a joint research project led by Kenmochi Hideki at the Pompeu Fabra University in Barcelona, Spain in 2000. At first it was not originally intended to be a full commercial project. Backed by the Yamaha Corporation, it developed the software into the commercial product Vocaloid. Hatsune Miku's release was a major factor to Vocaloids general success in Japan and has more or less become and icon. The Japanese video sharing website called Niconico Douga played a fundamental role in the recognition and popularity of the software. Vocaloid has a huge fanbase full of fanarts and content creators. The software gave way to many others with the opportunity to create their own songs, covers, and music videos. Some songs that have taken over Niconico Douga and have made it to the western world including songs like: Story of Evil, Cantarella, Daughter of Evil, World is mine, Black rock shooter, ECHO, Love is war, Triple Baka,  Matryoshka and hundreds more. It's popularity has even led to live concerts with their most popular characters being shown as projections. Their most popular characters are Hatsune Miku, Kagamine Rin, Kagamine Len, Megurine Luka, Meiko and Kaito.
