Vocaloid Blog
I chose to talk about Vocaloid since I like it and I'm very familiar with it. Vocaloid is a singing voice synthesizer software. It was developed through a joint research project led by Kenmochi Hideki at the Pompeu Fabra University in Barcelona, Spain in 2000. At first it was not originally intended to be a full commercial project. Backed by the Yamaha Corporation, it developed the software into the commercial product Vocaloid. Hatsune Miku's release was a major factor to Vocaloids general success in Japan and has more or less become and icon. The Japanese video sharing website called Niconico Douga played a fundamental role in the recognition and popularity of the software. Vocaloid has a huge fanbase full of fanarts and content creators. The software gave way to many others with the opportunity to create their own songs, covers, and music videos.
